The Upbeats - Ghost Radio / 1968

Artist: The Upbeats
Track A: Ghost Radio
Track AA: 1968
Label: Non Vogue
Cat: NV003
Released: Early April 2009

Unless you’ve been living in some kind of drum & bass resistant cave, or perhaps in an alternative dimension where breakbeats are outlawed, you’ll no doubt have heard of The Upbeats and their signature sound.

What you may not have heard of is their label, Non Vogue. Well then we suggest you fix up! Already it’s seen collaborations with Noisia, Maldini (Bad Company) and Evol Intent, and shows no signs of slowing down as The Upbeats drop the sampler to their third artist album, ‘Big Skeleton’.

And what a way to kick off the hype machine for the album, with a pair of absolute dancefloor killers! ‘Ghost Radio’ is The Upbeats through and through, with strong beats and layers of energetic percussion sat alongside digitised elements of rock and electro all combined to create one of those trademark Upbeats tracks.

On the flip ‘1968’ is no mere B side either! Opening with sweeping atmospherics and a steadily rising build-up, it’s not long before this one has you in the grip of a bouncing bassline that’ll threaten to break a rib if you look at it the wrong way.
